Who was Ned W. Frost?
Ned frost was a famous outfitter out of Wyoming. Frost moved into Wyoming at the age of 3 in 1884. At the age of 7, he killed his first grizzly bear in self defense with his father’s rifle. Ned Frost began hunting for big game by the time he was 12, putting antelope and other meat on the table. One summer day, his father was plowing fields when he decided to have young Ned go on and check the grizzly trap at the creek. Not thinking twice about it, Ned went on back to the ranch to retrieve his .44, but instead grabbed his father’s .45-90 which was a much heavier caliber/ load. When young Frost climbed over the hill, he noticed that the trap was gone although with a glance to the right, there was a huge boar grizzly looking right into the eyes of young Ned Frost. Without hesitation, he fired away and got his father’s attention with the shots. His old man stripped the harness from a plow horse and jumped on bareback, haulin ass to find Ned. He decided that he either had a dead bear, or a dead son.
